Massimo Di Stefano is a hair stylist known for his sharp eye for detail, technical ability and remarkable versatility.
Born in Italy, Massimo studied classic hairstyling techniques at the peak of Vogue Italia’s influence, the powerful and controversial images of the 1990s profoundly affected his aesthetic. In 1996 Massimo joined the Creative Team at Vidal Sassoon in London and later taught at the Academy for five years before becoming a freelance hair stylist.
Headhunted by haircare companies including Davines, Schwarzkopf and Balmain for Global Creative positions, Massimo has developed numerous successful brand campaigns and hair education programmes.
Massimo has assisted Guido Palau, Sam McKnight and Eugene Souleiman. For over ten years he has been a key member of Eugene Souleiman’s core team, working on shows, editorials and advertising campaigns. This invaluable experience, together with Eugene’s mentorship, has deepened Massimo’s knowledge and broadened his exposure to all aspects of the industry.
Massimo brings an eclectic and idiosyncratic sense of style to all creative projects. A passion for architecture and design is clearly reflected in his work, which often displays a sculptural quality. His use of bespoke headpieces and customised wigs distinguish Massimo’s multi-disciplinary approach. His ability to balance proportion and form is a result of an instinctive understanding of how a hairstyle should feel, look and function. The timeless quality of Massimo’s aesthetic is contrasted by his iconoclastic approach: elegance delivered with an anarchic twist.
